Help us celebrate another year of coming back to UWL!
Meaningful relationships with friends, peers, and mentors are critical to students' academic success. Last year we wanted to have our Chemistry and Biochemistry community come together to welcome back our students. We had over 80 students join faculty and staff at our 1st Annual Welcome Picnic for an evening of food and yard games. This year, we want to offer the opportunity to host our 2nd Annual Welcome Picnic to help continue to create a welcoming departmental culture that will continue to foster these relationships.
When we take the opportunity to celebrate our students and their return to campus with a Welcome Back Picnic. The gathering location (Myrick Park), program, and events are being designed to welcome new and returning students into the Chemistry & Biochemistry department. Faculty and staff (with families) will join the picnic to establish a sense of community for the students. Students can socialize with each other to create a strong peer network, and with faculty so that they can meet the people who will advance, encourage and support their academic success. Members of the CHM-BioCHM Club will also be present to inform students about getting involved.
Thank you for helping us start the 2022-2023 academic year in a fun and meaningful way for our students! To get you in the spirit, we are happy to share pictures from last years event!
(Dry ice ice cream is always a big hit)
Chemistry and Biochemistry aren't your thing, but you still want to support! You may have fallen into the chem/biochem community by taking a general education course, but still enjoyed your friends, faculty, and staff from the course!
You were a chemistry or biochemistry major and want to help us reach our goal to connect students, peers, and mentors! You found support and community during your time at UWL and want to see others reach their full potential!
In theory and practice, you LOVE chemistry & everyone you met along the way through the UWL Chem/Biochem faculty! You're ready for the next generation of chemists to see how awesome UWL Chem/Biochem is!
Chemistry and Biochemistry is in your blood - literally! A gift of $100 or more is an excellent way to support the Chem/Biochem department to help support future chem and biochem majors feel comfortable attending picnics and getting to know their professors and faculty outside of the classroom!
