Student Life

UWL Student Affairs support student growth through volunteer opportunities, programs, events, leadership experiences and transformational opportunities.

Emergency Fund: The University of Wisconsin—La Crosse recognizes that many students may experience unexpected financial hardship and challenge while attending college. The Fund was established in 2008 to honor former university professor and administrator Maurice O. Graff, a person who was a strong student advocate and who cared deeply about students’ well-being. Initially seeded by anonymous donors, the purpose of the Fund is to provide students some monetary relief during moments of financial emergency. Grants are typically intended to assist with things like car repairs, minor medical bills, emergency housing expenses, and unexpected transportation costs.

Campus Child Center: We are a state licensed and nationally accredited group child care setting providing care and education to the children of University of Wisconsin-La Crosse students, staff, and faculty.

Office of Residence Life: We strive to create safe and inclusive homes for our students to develop and achieve personally, academically, and professionally. Some of the most tangible ways we do this is through facility improvements and direct feedback from our residents and student staff.

This year students have asked for us to complete our water-bottle filling station (traditional water-fountain replacement) project. With the funds raised, we seek to add 24 more filling stations so that there will be one on EACH floor of ALL residence halls.

Operation River Watch: Operation: River Watch is a campus-based initiative in La Crosse, Wisconsin that seeks to prevent alcohol-related tragedies that result in accidental drowning in the Mississippi River. Furthermore, Operation: River Watch seeks to cultivate and promote a stronger sense of social responsibility and safety in La Crosse's drinking culture.

UWL Food Pantry: The Leadership & Involvement Center (LIC) coordinates the food pantry on campus that is available to UWL students, faculty, and staff. The Food Pantry is located in 2220 Student Union, inside the COVE.
