Thank you for your continued support of the music department and students studying jazz.
We are thrilled to be able to continue offering scholarships for these deserving students!
You make the music happen!
The University of Wisconsin–La Crosse has an outstanding jazz program with performance opportunities for all with two big bands and two jazz combos.
The jazz program at UWL is very active, performing multiple concerts each year, providing clinics for high schools, and touring.
The Jazz Orchestra, the premier big band, is directed by Dr. Jeff Erickson, the Director of Jazz Studies.
The Jazz Ensemble is directed by Professor Jon Ailabouni.
The jazz combos are directed by jazz faculty and perform both on- and off- campus each semester.
Participants in the program come from all colleges and majors of the university. We offer an emphasis in Jazz Performance with a BA or BS in Music.

There are two types of jazz scholarships available and both are awarded on the basis of the jazz audition described below.
1) General jazz scholarships: These are given to talented students regardless of major for participating in the jazz program's big bands and/or combos. Many of these may be renewed for up to five years for students who continue to meet participation and academic criteria.
2) Jazz Performance Emphasis Scholarships: Renewable annual Awards of up to $1,000 or more are open to music majors who choose to pursue a jazz performance emphasis and continue to make satisfactory progress towards completion of the emphasis.
